By law they don't have to say anything to you.
Chin up though, you wouldn't want to work for a company that can't take the time to write a letter out of common courtesy.
One piece of advise though, send them an e-mail asking for feedback as to why you didn't get the job.
Good luck next time! |

its common decency to but a lot of companies often forget. Probably best to give them a ring and check |

It would be polite of them, yes, and probably the least you could do. But in my experience most companies don't bother. This is annoying, but it might mean you're just second on their list and they are waiting for their first choice to respond - so it might be good news in the end!
Good luck

No. It would be the right thing for the employer to do, but there is no law saying they have to. You also should have followed up with a Thank You letter to them, but there's no law saying you had to do that either. |

No - there is no requirement for that anywhere - just call and ask the status of the hiring process for the position you applied for |

No. People aren't entitled to a whole lot of things, and this is one of them. |

No, you are not entitled as their HR department are probably too busy for that, however, if you would like to know, it is up to you to pursue an answer. You may write a letter to the person with whom you interviewed with for the position thanking them for taking the time to meet with you and also ask that since you have not heard from them as of yet, would they let you know if the position has been filled. |

not really.. but it is being polite , some companies are too cheap to waste the price of a stamp.. |

Wouldn't that be nice, and infinitely more professional, than having applications just fall into a Black Hole of Silence? Unfortunately, no, there is no entitlement to any sort of notification one way or another.
Call the HR person and/or hiring manager to ask about the status of your application.
Good luck! |

No - afraid not. If you don't hear anything within a month of interview it's best to assume you haven't been successful. You can ask for feedback, but there is nothing to say they have to give it. Good luck next time. |

Do you think that the hundreds of immigrants that all went for this job expected a politely worded letter? I'd say welcome to the real world and if the Company you were applying to, were too tight to be civil, you probably wouldn't have wanted a job with them anyway!
If all companies, replied to all unsuccessful applicants we would have to employ translators to reply in half a dozen different languages! I think you are living in our well mannered past.
The only time you can expect a letter, is if you actually beat one of the harder working immigrants into your own job!
Sorry sunshine, if you don't like it.....change it!
Good luck. |

I would not say it was an entitlement but it would be a gesture of caring that the employees are wanted.
I hope the delay is because they are considering you but equally you might be the second choice and the one offered the job has not yet accepted - hope he/she doesn't! |

I am thinking the same...when i applied they said they would ring me if i got it or if not write to me.
But i still havent heard from another application.
I dont think its a must do.
But its polite!

most of the time they will contact you but some instances they do say that if you haven't heard from them in so many weeks, then you have not been successful.
You know what they say though
NO NEWS IS GOOD NEWS
you may have got the job and just waiting for the references to come back. Be patient and good luck |
