If i get paid from the first to the 15 and work 13 days of that pay period how much ot will i have?

i work 6 days per week only sundays off pay starts first-fifteenth total hours are 104 for 13 days, how do i figure what the ot should be?

Judy has explained this pretty well. Keep track of your hours each workweek that is how overtime is figured. This can be confusing at times but just remember regardless of how many hours are paid in the pay-period which ones are overtime is based on how many are actually worked in a week not necessarily during the pay-period.

It is possible to have less then 40 hours in a pay-period and they could be overtime depending on when the hours were worked and how many total hours were worked in a week that is partially included in that pay-period.
(ex. you worked 8/1 and 8/2 and then did not work again until 8/16, the pay-period of 8/1 through 8/15 would have 8 hours regular pay and 8 hours overtime; if you worked all week, 7/28 through 8/2, 7/28-7/31 would be on a different check)

To determine how many hours of overtime you will have you need to know
1. The definition of the employer’s work-week (when does the week start and stop)
2. What days did you actually work in the pay-period?
3. What week did those days of the pay-period fall into?
4. Assuming you work 8 hours per-day and the employer’s work-week runs Sunday -Saturday then each Saturday you work is overtime regardless of how many hours you have in the pay-period.
5.as long as you don't miss any days work then however many Saturdays fall in the pay-period are going to be overtime and the other hours worked will be at regular wage.
Example:
Pay for 8/1/08 through 8/15/08
16 hours overtime and 88 hours regular
Pay for 8/16/08 through 8/31/08
24 hours overtime and 80 hours regular
Pay for 9/1/08 through 9/15/08(assuming labor day worked as regular rate)
16 hours overtime and 88 hours regular
Pay for 9/16/08 through 9/30/08
16 hours overtime and 88 hours regular time
October has 31 days like august but only 4 Saturdays so there will be less overtime but November has 30 days like September but 5 are Saturdays so there would be more overtime.

It doesn't quite work the way you are thinking. Your hours are calculated per week, not per pay period, and no pay period is longer than 14 days. If you get every Sunday off, then you worked 12 days in that pay period, not 13. The 13th day will have been the last day of the preceding PP or the first day of the new one. So, whichever it is, the hours for that day need to come off of the 104 total. The only way you could have 104 hours in 13 days in that check is to have worked one of the Sundays.


Generally, overtime begins after 40 hours per week. Employment covered by union contract where pay is negotiated may pay OT after 8 hours per day, but this is not guaranteed by law. Anything you worked on the 6th day of the week would be OT if you had exceeded 40 hours for that week (someone that works six 6 hour days gets no OT). So in your case, anything over 40 each of the two weeks, when added together, gives you your OT hours for the pay period.

Overtime is calculated by the week, not by the pay period. If you are working six 8-hour days each week then that's 48 hours a week, and the last 8 hours of every week would be overtime. So depending on how the weeks fell compared to pay periods, you'd have at least two, and possibly three, days of overtime in this pay period. so 16-24 hours.

You hv to work more then 40 hours in that week. So you have 24 hours of overtime for both weeks (13 days) right?
What ever your pay is $ __.00 plus half. U get time and a half per hour for those 24 hours. Multiply your time and a half rate by 24 then add your other regular hours. That is your pay before deductions.
