Find answers to your legal question.

If i have a felony conviction on my record that is 18 years old?

should I still put in on my resume?

It is dependent upon how the question is phrased on the application. Usually, applications ask if you have been charged/convicted of a felony within the past five years. If the question on the application is asked in this format than you should answer no the the question.

If the question on the application indicates whether you have been charged/convicted of a felony for an unspecified amount of time than you must answer yes to the question.

However, you should not include this detail on your resume, the application as I have stated above will determine whether you are required to disclose this information.

I hope this clarifies your question. If you require further clarification, please add additional details to your question or send me an email.

Best wishes.

Don't volunteer information. if they want to know they will ask. Typically that question is asked on an application not on a resume. One option would be to write "will discuss" on the application if they ask that. Of course you could also lie and if they found out they could fire you.

Ever since 9/11 even records that were to be expunged are showing up on some types of searches. If you ar applying for a job where a detailed search will be done (like in a school district or doing security) tell them upfront.

You are taking a chance either way.
