my company just took away my sales route. they are making me a floater and will now have to travel out of state 5-6 days a week, every week. I have kids and can't be gone all that time. Can I quit and get unemployment due to the situation?

If an organization moves 50 or more miles away from your original place of employment you will be eligible to collect unemployment. However, be warned they may very well attempt to contest your claim on the grounds they did offer you continuous employment and did not terminate your employment. You must make clear the distance they moved to and your home obligations. Although personal obligations hardly if ever play a role in a final determination, in your case I can assure you it will. |

You can collect UC if you quit a job for good reason.
This probably qualifies.

In many situations this would not qualify as grounds to quit. If your spouse had a job where you have been living, or a dependent child has a job there, it could be deemed to qualify.
If you are the sole breadwinner, or the other breadwinner's job pays very little, one would be expected to move the household, probably, but not necessarily. |
