1. The rate of Statutory Sick Pay is worked out according to the employee's normal weekly earnings. The current rate of statutory sick pay is £66.15 per week for employees earning the amount necessary to be liable to pay National Insurance Contributions - currently the equivalent £79.00 per week.
2. You will qualify for SSP if you have been off work sick for four or more calendar days in a row, which includes weekends, holidays and other days not worked. This is known as a Period of Incapacity for Work (PIW). After the qualifying days, SSP is payable up to 28 weeks. After that, an employee will have to claim state sickness benefit. If an employee does not qualify for statutory sick pay they may still qualify for sickness benefit from the DSS. Within the 28-week period, an employer can stop sick pay if you return to work, resign from your job or start maternity leave. Qualifying days should be stipulated in your employment contract. |

UK?
They dont have to pay you anything other than statutory sick pay for the first 26 weeks of sickness @ £70ish per week....which i take it they have ?
If illness has occured because of a work related incident then that is a different matter entirely and only DWP the Employer and yourself can establish the amount for that |

Generally you would be treated as a 'medical redundancy' and according to your own scheme rules, however it would be similar to this 1 weeks pay for every week you have worked for the company, excluding the first 2 years and from the age of 21. if you have a pension scheme with your employers, you could also get a lump sum from the pension scheme and a small monthly pension, or a larger lump sump and no monthly pension. |

Long term sickness [long term incapacity] usually is paid out by the employers pension scheme and not by the employer. Typically, those entering LTI would not qualify to do so unless the employer had medical advice that predicted a return to employment within a 2 year period. The typical amount that an LTI scheme would pay you would be in the region of 66% of your salary excluding overtime or bonus payments.
If however you are talking about an absence and merely collecting your salary payments, then you need to refer to your employers handbook or online procedures. Most employers will pay full salary for up to 6 months, and if you are still off work after that time you may be considered for an LTI scheme if they have one.
One thing to bear in mind is that if after 6 months you are unfit for work, and not suitable for entry into LTI, then the only real remaining option is dismissal, unless you are so so sick and not suitable for any other work in which case you might be able to get ill health early retirement [but only if you are in a pension scheme].
Hope this helps |

In the UK the reason for your dismissal is either (in)capability or redundancy; it can't be a mixture of the two.
Any payment would be in accordance with the terms of your contract of employment. Check this, any staff handbook/policy notes of ask your HR manager.
Pensions - if you belong to a company pension scheme and are granted ill health early retirement, the reason for your departure is just that: retirement. More info at:

If you belong to a personal or stakeholder scheme, more info about ill health retirement at:
