If you get a law degree, do you necessarily have to be a lawyer?
Find answers to your legal question.

If you get a law degree, do you necessarily have to be a lawyer?

Are there any types of jobs in law that do not require being an actual lawyer? If so, what are they, and how much do they pay typically? Only legitimate answers only please. Thanks.

There are several careers where you might have a law degree, but might not be admitted into bar as a lawyer. For instance, there is a paralegal, which earns from $35,000 to $50,000.

You can also become a legal secetary. They make on average from $30,000 to $35,000.

A judge is another career, although it requires many years of experience in law before becoming a judge. They earn anywhere from $100,000 to $200,000.

The first two jobs I had listed does not require a law degree, it is a plus. Lawyer and judge both require a law degree. However, paralegal and legal secretary could just have a BA in Political Science and so on.

Another thing you should keep in mind is a law degree is a law degree. That's it. It doesn't state that you are a lawyer, judge or whatever. In order to become a lawyer, you must first be admitted into bar. Hopefully my answer helps!

You don't have to practice law if that's your question but if you pass the bar, you're still a lawyer whether you practice or not. There is a book called Nonlegal Careers for Lawyers by Gary Munneke. You might want to check it out.

When you say law degree... do you mean a bachlors or like an honest to go grad school Law Degree?!!?

Cuz if you're talkin grad school law degree and you dont want to practice or be a lawyer ... uumm.. Whats the point?!!?

But.. to answer your question, if you specialize in entertainment law and contracts... you'd make one heck of a manager - to like celebrities and such (pay is 10%... 10% of what is up to you). Other than that... i really have no idea! You could be a professor... but thats hard to do without any real law experience.

if you want to go into law without being a lawyer, you dont have to go to grad school. There is a paralegal, and investigator, umm.. a clerk, a researcher.... most of those only require a 4 year degree... some of even only a 2. Good luck!

Donnie Mac
FBI or Secret Service agent to name a few occupations.
Both start at about $42K, top out at $95K+.
What do you have if you have 3 attorneys up to their necks in cow sh**??
