If you get fired from you job??

I got fired from my job for getting into a fight w/ one of my co- worker. Can I still qualify from for unemployment, my employer said they would not contest. I feel so bad because I didn't control myself. I have never been fired form any job.. so I don't know what to do... please help???

The only way you would qualify for unemployment is if you lie about why you left the company. If you tell U.I. the truth as to why you were fired you would not be granted benefits.

No you would not qualify for unemployment unless you lied during your interview with the unemployment Representatives and your employer does not contest it.

Judy
Maybe. If you apply and your employer doesn't contest it, you generally would get it.

If you are fired for gross misconduct then you aren't eligible, but if your employer doesn't contest, it will probably be approved.

The key point may be - did you start the fight? If you can maintain with a straight face that the other employee attacked you during an argument and you were trying to defend yourself, you MAY get unemployment.

I don't see you getting it, no matter if the employer contests or not. What you did was wrong, sorry. But just live and learn from your misstakes and that matters in life. Just go get another job. I am happy to hear you say, you regret it. That is a start to seeing what you did wrong and not doing it again. We all have to learn. It's when you don't live & learn that your'e in trouble in life. Good Luck.
