Find answers to your legal question.

If you quit your job instead of getting laid off from your job, do you STILL get unemployment benefits in CA?

Just curious...

Ryan M
Only if you can prove that it was a hostile or dangerous work environment. The key word is PROVE. Otherwise you do not get compensated by the taxpayers for volunteering to become unemployed.

Alicia P
No. You need to have lost your job due to no fault of your own.

You do not collect unemployment benefits in any state. If you leave for medical reasons that can fall under the Medical Leave Act but you cannot collect anything.

Brittles
No. You only qualify for benefits if you were let go through no fault of your own. So basically, laid off.

Doctor Deth
you don't get that in ANY state
