If your employer does not notify you of a weekly schedule, when is it assumed you are no longer working there?
Find answers to your legal question.

If your employer does not notify you of a weekly schedule, when is it assumed you are no longer working there?

As a part time employee. Boss has not given a schedule for THIS week, and its already Tuesday. There is no written contract. At what point do you assume you are terminated? Phone calls have been made, with no response from employer, or call back. What do you do in this instance?!
Additional Details
-I am in the US.
-No reason for termination, I believe I am not being scheduled, because I am at a higher pay rate than the other employees of my same position.
- I am a receptionist

You go to the job in person, if you have been terminated they have to give you your full pay.

This would be very poor management for a company not to say anything. Is there a reason that you think that you would be terminated? Have you been doing your job and not receiving complaints from the workers or your boss?

Your next step would be to go to the department of employment and let them know what happen to you.

Contact HR, or next in charge call the scheduler-- See if a schedule has been posted on site. Write a letter documenting what you have done.

Its your responsibility to take it upon yourself to find out the hours you are working not the supervisor. If I were you I would go to your place of employment and ask them directly.

Agree with Cubs Girl, it is up to the employee to make sure of their hours. An at will employee (not a union member) would normally not have a written contract, full or part time.

Your boss may be measuring your interest in the job. In today's economy there are many applicants for every job, even part time. Or the boss may be trying to get you to quit because if you quit you cannot get unemployment benefits. It is your responsibility to go to your boss each week/month to set down your schedule. Bosses tend to be busy with their own work and expect employees to take care of such things. It you do not the boss may just assume you are not interested in working.

Legally, an employee should NEVER ASSUME they are terminated. Termination is a legal action which is done via legal document or face to face.

What contry you from???

In Australia:
You need to either resign or be terminated in writting.

Also it depends what Industry you work in and what award you are covered by. I suggest you look at www.wo.gov.au which will give you alot of good information and you can search for your award and find out the conditions your employed by.

Even if you don't have a written contract you are covered by the Award.

you need to contact hr.
That is unacceptable, unless you have been fired you should get 2 weeks notice of being laid off
