okay so i told my mom i want to get a job somewhere, and she said im not allowed to, and i have to pay "income taxes" and ****. wtf? do you have to pay income taxes when you work part time? i just want to work part time, so i can have money.
and no im not baby sittying or doing anything in my neighborhood.
and o yeah, whats the minimum wage for 15 year olds if they work part time?
please help! oh yeah i live in Virginia, if thats any help (richmond)

I'm not sure about virginia... I worked at dunkin donuts at 14 in
NH however every state had their own regulations. And as far as taxes go... everyone working pays taxes! it's unavoidable! |

If you work, you'll pay into social security and medicare. If you make over $5450 for the year, you'll owe federal income tax.
Minimum wage in VA follows the federal minimum, which is $6.55. Since you are under age 20, the employer can pay you $4.25 an hour for the first 90 days - after that you go to the regular minimum. Tipped employees can make a lot less an hour base pay if their tips take them to the 6.55
Wage laws, and tax laws, are the same for part or full time. |
