This is illegal. People aged 16 and 17 must be given a break of 30 minutes after they have worked for four and a half hours. Whereas people aged 18 or over are entitled to a 20 minute break after 6 hours work. Your employer doesn't have to pay you for the break.

Depends on what state you live in. I live in Arizona and up to 6 hours without a break is legal. Anything over 6 hours and you are alloted atleast a 30 min lunch break. 8 hours and over you are alloted 1 hours of breaks/lunch.

I was under the impression that if you were entitled to a ten minuit break for every four hours you worked. so you can have a cup of tea, have a smoke, or a visit to the toilet.so at least you should have a ten minuit break after the first two hours.
six hours without a visit to the loo or a cuppa no I don't think so, but good luck if there is a shortage of work in your area, it's really up to you

The European Working Time Directive applies.

You are entitled to a minimum 20 minutes break away from the work area for each 6 hours of work.

There is however no duty placed upon the employer to pay staff during break periods. An employer can therefore get you to work for 6 hours then end your shift without any obligation being placed upon himself.

Sorry.

richard_beckham2001
If you work anything over 3 you should get at least a 15min break. If your 18 i'm sure you should get no less than 30mins.

In the US the law only requires a 30 minute break (or two 15 minute breaks) every 8 hours.

I know a lil' bit about that

I don't know about the uk, but in the U.S. you are required to have a break after 2 hours. In an 8 hour shift you get at least a half hour lunch and two fifteen minute breaks. For a six hour shift, you don't get a lunch but you should have gotten a break. P.S. Anyone working in the U.S. for eight hours and aren't getting two fifteen minute breaks and a lunch are being played!

For ever 8 hours you work you get too 15 min. breaks, but your only working 6 hours so they really dont have to give you a break.
