Go back to school. An associates degree is practically nothing when it is in something practical. Make it an associates degree in fine arts, and honestly, it is almost like not having a degree at all. If you really want a career, turn that interest in art into something practical, like a bachelors or masters in graphic design or marketing or interior decorating or SOMETHING that you can actually get a job with. You might consider paying a visit to a university and talking with an academic advisor. Good luck! |

I feel your pain because I'm in the same boat as you! I have my associates degree in Graphic Design. Most jobs expect a Bachelor's degree and lots of experience. All of my friends that went to school with me are scraping by as well.
My current job entails answering the phone and entering data. I make enough to get by, yet not enough to save or create a comfortable future.
I've watch my employer throw a resumé in the garbage because they don't have a Bachelor's degree.
I think the only way to get a career path going is to continue your education.
It seems like most of the career opportunities are for people who studied business, accounting, science, computers or medicine.
Write down all of your interests and research the fields that interest you. |

I would suggest taking the credits that are applicable to a 4-year degree, and start down a new road.
Art degrees, and the like are fine if you are independently wealthy, but they are very common(becuase they are easy to obtain), and the net direct benifit to society is not there beyond the sake of "art". You may also I believe get a bachelors in art, and then spend 2 years to get a law degree.
I was 32 when I went back to school to become an engineer, and now make low 6-figures.
Seek a career which pays the bills, as well as personally fullfilling.
Good Luck! |

Taco has it right
I would go back to school full time in a major that makes me employable downstream
26 is not too late but you are behind your peer group and can't afford to fool around
Think Accounting, Nursing, Pharmacy, MD etc |
