eh your a freshmen in highschool you don't need to worry about it quite yet, not until junior year. just pass high school, then worry about it. there aren't any classes in high school that will help you except maybe chemistry.

Go to your Guidance councilor at school and talk to them about which subjects would help you best towards your goal, they have , or can get that information for you.

I applied to the FBI back in 2003. I passed all the steps involved (there are many) but one: physical fitness, which I attribute to my being a computer geek.

Its good that you're thinking ahead. You can get the basic criteria off of the FBI's website (or Bad Girl's post above), but here's some more specific stuff about classes, etc:

1) The FBI definitely likes people who have expertise in: accounting (think Enron), foreign languages (especially Arabic), law (JD degree), and engineering (all kinds, but especially computers). Prior investigative work (city police, military, etc) is also helpful, but I would say its less so than the four I mentioned previously.

2) If I were you, I'd focus classwork on three areas: Arabic language, computer programming (think hackers and economic crimes involving the web), and Chinese language. On the West Coast especially, the FBI does a lot of stuff on crimes (espionage, etc) involving China, Chinese companies, or Chinese nationals.

3) Chinese and Arabic are also more unique languages. Spanish, French, and German are foreign languages, but you'll find that lots of other applicants will likely speak them as well so you won't be that unique.

4) Physical fitness -- you will need to learn to run fast (sprinting) and long (0.5 mile and up). You'll also need to have solid strength to do things like pushups/pullups so you may want to join a gym. Again, the fitness standards are posted on the FBI's site.

5) Writing -- I didn't find this hard, but writing is tested pretty intensely. Its understandable since agents will need to read and write reports to pass information to other agents, to lawyers, etc. Maybe take some more writing and English classes if you're not strong in that area.

6) Shooting -- If you've never shot a handgun before, I'd recommend going to a range and renting one for an hour or so to see if its something you can do. The act of shooting also develops hand/arm muscles so you can actually get better the more you shoot.

7) I also found it helpful to be around people. FBI agents talk to and interview people a lot so being able to read body language is essential. Maybe join a club or team of some kind? The FBI also likes it if you assume a leadership role of some kind in said team or club since it shows you can both follow orders and give them.

8) Definitely stay out of trouble. Do not take drugs, but if you have or gotten arrested for something, disclose it upfront. The FBI struck me as caring much more about the disclosure than the offense.

9) The appearance thing is not a big deal. You'll wear a suit. There are standards for hair length, mustaches, height, and weight, but they're pretty much in line with what you'd expect at any white-collar type office.

Hope that helps.

There is no physical appearance test aside from just basically not having extraordinary facial modifications like tattoos or piercings. There is a physical aptitude test that involves running, push ups, pull ups etc. The fbi website explains it all. Generally they look for people who have accounting degrees or law degrees. Also, if you had been a local policeman for a few years then that may take the place of a degree. I have a bachelor's in accounting and an MBA and my younger brother has a bachelor's degree in poli sci and is in law school now to become a lawyer. I can assure you that an accounting or business degree will be much easier than getting a law degree.

I know of other accountants who wanted to get into the FBI and ended up becoming Treasury Agents. The FBI is famous for people working very long hours and they have a little bit better situation at Treasury.

You still have a lot of time to make a decision.

experience will help over classes, speak to someone at the FBI and check out how you can get involved now.

They love lawyers, CPA's, Doctors and Engineers. I applied for them because I was in the military, had a top secret clearance and had a degree in accounting. They told me to pass the CPA exam. I don't love my profession that much, hence I never passed the CPA exam.

well there isnt really a class you can take in high school for the fbi, you'd have to persue a career in law enforcement or the military.. you can always join the ROTC (if you have a group at your school) to get you started..also, if you know any police officers/military officers or FBI agents, let them know you are interested, networking is key. They are very educated people, so keep your grades up as well.

Take the normal college prep classes and play sports. Keep yourself fit and your grades high.

When I was in high school they offered a program for students to take college level courses that would eventually count for college credit when they got out of high school. I took art classes, but corrections was one that was offered. Check with your high school as well as your local community colleges. If nothing is offered, then just take gym classes, government classes, and be active in student government. AND DON'T EVEN SMOKE POT! THEY WILL KNOW, AND THEY WILL TURN YOU DOWN...

That would be a really cool career.. except they dont have f.b.i's in ireland.. lol
