I want to go to College but What other things can i or should I do after I graduate high school in June? Sense you have to be 21 to join the academy, I want to make my years in between use full please help!

Step One: Depending on what you want to do in law enforcement it may be beneficial to study Languages (maybe as a minor), Technology, a Science (if you are interested in forensics), or Criminal Justice (which is what I majored in).
Step 2: Do an internship. I would suggest doing one with a federal organization. I regret not trying to do one with the FBI. Maximize your college opportunities.If you can do an internship each summer it will make you more competitive in the future. I only did one and I seriously regret it. I am in graduate school now and I am looking into that federal internship and an entry level position as an Intelligence Analyst.
Step 3: Look into college work study programs. You may be able to be a student worker under the campus police. Never know what you might learn.
A Law enforcement career can open many doors. It is up to you to decide which one to walk through. |
