Hi,ive been told i have to attend a interview under caution on the 11th of march with the DWP. im really worried and the letter says that they cant give me any more details until im at the interview. But ive read on some websites that i can refuse to go unless they tell me what its about.I have no idea what its about and am really scared. Has anyone out there had one of these before and did they tell you why you were being investigated. ANY advise would be great.thanks.

for gods sake go and see a solicitor or go the citizen advice the will give you the relevant information that will definitely put your mind at ease. |

Unless you have been falsely claiming any benefits, like housing support or jobseekers allowance, incapacity benefit etc then you don't have anything to worry about. |

Your best bet is to get a solicitor. If you are going to be interviewed under caution then they probably think you have made false claims.
A solicitor can advise you.
If you know you have made false claims and it is your first offence then you will probably get a fine and will have to pay the money back.
To be honest the DWP don't interview this way unless they have some proof of false claims on your part. Please try not to worry, get a solicitor as soon as possible. |

This is another website you may not have read about it. I haven't been to one myself and I haven't read the article yet but it explains about your rights and what happens. Good luck, if you haven't done anything wrong you've nothing to worry about.

no need to worry until you know..could be they just want to do a random check and your name was picked out..it would be a good idea to take someone with you so you have proof of what was said at the meeting... |

Ring them up, you are entitled to know the reason they have called you in, then you can prepare and take all things in.
When you go in they will caution you, and tape the interview. You are told that you do not have to say anything, or you can stop the interview at any time, and ask for a solicitor. You can also take a friend, but they can not say anything.
I had this and rung to ask why, they told me, and I took in the relevant paperwork, which they had already had, and had read it wrong !! Don't worry, if they make a decision that you disagree with, you can ask for them to look again and explain their judgement, if they still say your wrong, you can go to appeal.
They are there to do a job, but there are some who think they are a law unto themselves. |
