In NY, how do you become a court reporter? ?

I already have a BA and have noticed college degrees in this field. I was wondering if there were separate schools to become certified and where they are in the tri-state area.

The amount of training required to become a court reporter varies by specialization. Licensure requirements vary by state.

Warning: Jobs in the field of Law are drying up FAST!!! This is not a good field to invest in right now!!! Reasons: very bad economy, we simply have WAY TOO MANY attorneys right now (go to your phone book, look in Yellow section under "A"), many people today think (mistakenly) they can do their own legal work thanks to the WWWeb, today we have WAY TOO MANY law schools (and this includes those for court reporters and other legal support professionals) churning out WAY TOO MANY graduates for the demand and the economy (the job market is SATURATED with legal professionals, and this includes court reporters - but the law schools won't tell you this - law students are easy money).
So....even if you DO make it through law school, you probably won't be able to find a job in today's market - there are simply too many legal professionals.
Suggestion: Go into the field of Healthcare <<< LOTS of jobs there!!!
