In Ontario, does a company have to legally hold your job for you while you are on sick leave?

I am currently on sick leave from a job I was only with for 2 months before I became ill. My contract states that while I am on (6 months) probation that they can be let go at anytime "without just cause". I am worried that they will not have me back due to leaving for illness. Is the company obligated to hold my job for me, or can they just let me go - or assume Im never coming back?

As stated in the contract, anytime in the 6 month probation without reason or cause.

Call them every other day and update them on your status.

Good luck and get well soon

6 months of probation seems too long. The reality is that they cannot let you go without cause after you have worked there a few months. If they do let you go, they have to offer you a little compensation (a couple weeks of pay only).

Get well soon

You may have a case. Suspending for illness is not a just cause for dismissal. If they do dismiss you you might be able to fight them with anti discrimination agencies, because you were dismissed because of your illness. Also the union if you have one could help. Best of luck
