In Washington State, is it legal to fire someone from their job, if they have a signed doctors note for the leave of absence? I ask because I was terminated the other day. I was sick, with a signed doctors note and my job fired me anyways.
Help is much appreciated.

If your company has an absenteeism policy and you've exceed the number of allowable absences, no matter the reason, then the company can terminate your employment. Most states are "right to work states" and that means an employer can fire anyone for any reason as long as the terminated employee is not a member of a protected class and the firing was discriminatory. |
