I got caught steeling money and have not gone to trail yet. my job read about it in the newspaper and now they said i cant work till i prove to them i didn't go to jail. i didn't go to jail and im not going to, but i wanted to know if they could do that? as far as i know there is not anything written that i have to maintain a clean record while working for them. i do have a clean record and never got in trouble before.

I am honest, i had a background check when i started working for them.

I'm really sorry and I understand your situation, but the employers can do that. If you sue them for firing you because you "stole Money" I think the jury and the judge will understand that the employers don't want a criminal (I know that sounds harsh, but im not talking about you) working for them. |

You don't say where you live. If you are in the US you are most likely an employee at will, and they can fire you even for no reason if they want to. |

well, if you're a thief and you haven't gone to TRAIL yet, you will, and depending on how much you stole you just may go to jail. no one is required to have a felon in their employment. while you're in jail, learn how to spell. steel is an iron product and a trail is something you walk on. |

Well, first of all, any job requires honesty and integrity, so if you got caught stealing, you're dishonest and that's grounds for being fired. Would you keep a dishonest person on your company if you were the owner?
Your proof that you didn't go to jail: "Do I look like I'm behind bars right now? How can I prove something that didn't happen? The records are public. If you want to fire me, you better have proof that I DID go to jail."
And if they fire you, get a lawyer and sue the living #*$# out of them for "wrongful termination". |
