Is Purple Ink considered Legal?

Does anyone know if purple ink is considered acceptable for official business use for signing and writing on documentation? Or is Blue and Black still the Traditional Colors to use. ; )

The reason I asked was because I see alot of businesses ordering purple inked pens besides the traditional Blue or Black that's why I asked was it acceptable. ; )

Use Blue. You can then tell which document is the original document vs a photocopy which will come out in black and white. Keep the purple for social correspondence.

It all depends on where you work. I'm currently working at a Bank part-time and the manager allows us to use purple ink and she also uses it as well. Pay mister so-so never mind. He just gained two points for nothing. ; )

No, it's not acceptable. It looks childish. Unless, you're in jr high or high school and signing up for the Hannah Montana fan club, stick to the big girl colors.

Blue is the only legal pen color, anything else would be thrown out in a court of law.

It is acceptable. Any ink colour is legal if it can be read. Still common practice does not prone the use of a colour that is too flashy (offensive) or too light because darker colour tend to be readable much longer in time. Blue and black are considered acceptable in court or for contract by tradition. What is important is not really the colour. It is if the ink is a stable, lightfast and could be photocopied clearly in the future. My personal preference go for signing with a fountain pen and using an ink like Noodler's Bad Belted kingfisher. It is a dark blue made for this kind of use. It is made specifically for resisting forger. The ink is waterproof, lightfast, resistant to bleach and other product for laundering check, it is also pH neutral... They also sell roller pens that can use fountain pen ink. It is cheaper on the long run. So the question is not really what colour your ink is but would it stand again time? P.S. They make an ink call La Reine Mauve it is a purple ink sold in 1 ounce bottle. It is resistant to forgery and stable. The thing is that colour is 3 time more expensive then my bad belted kingfisher.
