My niece had a Saturday job prior to her 16th birthday and when she didn't yet have her NI card they fired her and told her it was illegal to work without your NI card.

No you have to be 16 and even then you are not allowed to operate machinery

Under 10 year olds can work on TV. If your parents and the restaurant owner say it's ok, then yes, and have fun with the extra spending money
