Yes, because most law firms do not recruit through job fairs.
If you are looking for a job as an attorney and have absolutely no contacts whatsoever (none made through the local county bar association, ethnic bar association, etc.), then I suggest you go to a staffing agency that specializes in placing people in positions throughout the legal field. It's contract work, but you can earn $20-50/hr just doing that. You can also do special appearances on the side.
Go to Craigslist.org and I see lots of job openings / special appearances available for attorneys. |

I would say if there are not going to be any businesses that have any representatives for legal jobs then yes, you are wasting your time. I would first contact the job fair and ask if there will be recruiters in attendance who will represent any legal jobs. That way you will know for sure. I hope this makes sense. |

If you are looking for a job as a lawyer, then yes, you aren't going to find attorney jobs at a run of the mill job fair. Now, if your bar association has one, that would prove more useful. Or if you are looking to leave the legal field. I don't think law firms even go to job fairs to hire paralegals, but I could be wrong. If on the off chance there's a firm there, it wouldn't hurt to get some networking in, but I think getting to know the attorneys in your area would be more beneficial than a job fair. |
