It's really not what you see on tv. Shows like Boston Legal can make it seem like a light, fun, enjoyable little game infront of a Judge. And the wittiest comment will win the case.
Lawyering in real life is very different. You can have trial lawyers, or lawyers that do most of the case research. Although lawyers can fill both roles the research side is not that desirable. It's a tedious, often boring task to research all day.
So it's not that great a career. Save yourself the debt |

Being a lawyer is difficult. It's hard to get clients. The US is filled with lawyers. Also, it is a stressful profession.
Good luck. |

Being a lawyer is an extremely rewarding career, but it takes years of training. Once you have actually qualified, you have many options and hundreds of different jobs to take related to law, here are a few, prosecutor, government counsel, corporate in-house counsel, administrative law judge, judge, arbitrator, law professor, or politician.
Being involved in anything to do with law usually is a good career path, but it is a very stressful job. I myself aspire to become involved with Medicine, but you need extremely good grades and years of training, just like Law, but all the work and effort put in is definitely worth it in the end. Overall it is a definitely good job to follow. Working in large cities seem to pay the best. eg. London, New York. Some can even start earning up to £55,000 in their first year, and in later years in excess of £150,000. Very rewarding =] |
