Depends what you mean by unlawful -- it is probably not illegal to directly leave out something if the question asks for it, but it would be grounds for firing you or deeming your employment contract void -- in theory, the company might be able to sue you for it. (If it is a government job, it might be illegal to lie.)
If they don't ask, though, you don't have to say. |

If it asks you the question and you lie yes, it does nt matter if your in a different country. A felony is a felony. |

you should reveal any felony that is on your record. They will find out anyways when they do a background check, honesty is key. |

They will find out anyways if they do a background check. Most employers do these. I would just put it on the application and be truthful. |

In CA, the firm being paid to do the background check cannot pass to the client firm (the firm that is hiring you) information on anything that is more than seven (7) years old. Therefore, if the conviction(s) is/are more than seven years old you don't need to even put those particular items on your application at all. I found this out in Nov. 2005, when I interviewed for a position at a background check firm in Roseville, CA, near where I live (Citrus Heights, CA). You need to check the laws regarding background checks in your particular state. |

Tell the truth. Large companies will pay extra money to do background checks overseas. If you lie on the application and they find out, you are definately not getting the job. |
