Is it against the law to paid an individual a salary less than what is posted for the job position?

I was working for company A and they merged with company B. The position I decided to take starts with an entry pay of 32,500 but they only want to pay me 30,000. Is that against the law?

If your pay at company A is the same as being paid after merger , then it is not illegal !!

No it's not against the law. Your salary is what you and the company agree on. If you aren't satisfied with their offer, you have every right not to work for that, and to look elsewhere.

Not per se, especially if you are working against the lower pay scale.

So I'd certainly question it with both my potential boss and HR. We're talking about $2500 - nothing that's going to make or break the new company. It's probably less than the expense accounts of the C level executives.

Worse comes to worse you take the job and look for another one.

HOWEVER if you are a member of a protected class and can show a pattern of this behavior - even if unintended - against other members of your protected class then you have discovered a thing called adverse impact.

That would be worth at least $2500 just to shut you up.
