Is it better to resign from a job through a letter or in person?

It would be best to go to your supervisor in person, if you are sure you want to resign. You will want to follow-up with a letter as well. For many more ideas on how to resign, please see the attached link.

In person if at all possible. I would recommend having a resignation letter to turn in at the time you have the meeting with your boss.

When resigning from a job its always good to give your employer a letter stating why you are resigning. And its always important to give them at least a two week notice. I hope this helps.

Type up the letter, then take it to your boss in person and tell him you are quitting and why. If you have a Human Resources dept, take a copy to them as well.

Spike
Tell them in person and take a letter.

Tell them before sending a letter to HR. If you send the letter first and then talk to them (1) you look like a coward and (2) it will likely piss off your boss.

MintChoc
Write a letter and take it personally to your manager or boss or whoever has the authority to accept the resignation letter.

Do it the correct way, so that you get a proper closure on that job, like remaining benefits and also a letter of recommendation or experience letter or such stuff, which you are bound to need for your next job.

Write a letter, laying out your last date of employment and address for any future correspondence. Then resign in person with the resignation letter in hand. This way you show respect (a must for future references) but also make it clear that you thought about your decision.
