is it against the law if for example: I am the employee for a company I was suppose to get my raise the begining of the year 08 its been almost 12 months now without seeing thre raise when I was suppose to see it in Jan. They say its going to be retro active so I will get a check with all 12 months worth of the raise on it. But that does me no good not only they are not paying interest on it, I cant invest it or buy things. Can they do this please help

just another note. I earned the raise they finished the paper work i just havent seen it added and i just keep getting the run around from my boss.

is the promise of that raise in writing with any and all conditions spelled out?
if not then there isn't anything saying that you are getting a raise!
if it is in writing then you may have a gripe...but if they are going to pay it retroactive soon then i'd let it slide (or you might not even have a job!)

They are not required to give you a raise at all. If you don't like it, find a new job. |

Why were you "supposed to" get a raise?
Unless you hafe a contract that requires it, an employer isn't legally bound to give you a raise even if they told you that you were going to get one. |
