I work in England and, understandably, the company I work for has put a freeze on promotions and salary increases for the forseeable future to see how we do at hitting our targets etc. over the next few months.
However, a few weeks ago our director starting spontaneously pulling people into meeting rooms, and it turns out this was to give them a bonus (anything from a couple of hundred pounds to thousands). I was just wondering if this was legal?

I guess you didn't get one. And that's why you're asking this question. But yes I believe it is perfectly legal. |

If everyone else gets a bonus and you don't you might wonder whether you're being discriminated against...if not, you won't care, right? Of course it's legal unless the company is being discriminatory in how it distributes the bonuses. |

I don't know English law, but if you are being singled out then you have a case I would imagine. In a company in the US if a hiring freeze is put on your particular future and well being, but not for others then its not legal. |
