On monday i asked my boss for a transfer but she told me no not right now because they dont have a
nyone to replace me and she will have to get me the paper work to fill out. On friday my boss called me and told me they had a replacement for me. Now, the only places they have available for me to go are to far for me to travel. I told her if that was the case i would like to stay where i was at till something closer was available. She told me no because someone was hired in my place. So, now next week i have to train this person who is taking my place and i will have nowhere to go. None of my options were discussed with me before the transfer and i signed no papers to be transferred. Is there anything i can do?

your employer can change your job at anytime (unless you are under contract and even then this may not be covered)
you requested a transfer now you don't like what you got. sorry, your employer has done nothing wrong, illegal or unethical.
it would be nice if your employer had spent a little more time discusing your options but it also would have been nice if you had done the same. "you Reap as you have Sown" |

Be careful of what you ask for, you may get it.
When you ask for a transfer to destinations unknown, it is assumed you are not willing to continue where you are. The employer would usually have a right to protect them self by hiring a replacement.
Now, the reason given, that they had no replacement for you would have tipped you off to the assumption that they would look for someone. If you had not wanted them to do so, that would have been an ideal time to say so.
I can not imagine any court allowing you any damages on the basis of this situation. If you have not already declined the position offered, I suggest you accept it quickly and begin planning your next move. |

Sorry, but you were the one who asked for a transfer - did you not have a specific position in mind? You made your boss aware that you were looking to leave, and your boss made a decision that they did not want a worker who wants to be elsewhere. Even if you didn't sign anything, you initiated the process, and since they are not firing you, but offering you exactly what you asked for, you do not have the basis for a lawsuit. |
