Probably not, but that depends on where you live and your employment contract
Depending on where you live there may be statutory provisions regarding that specific question. Check your employment contract to say if there are any clause sthat would allow them to reduce your wage unilaterally.
If there are no employment laws in your state/province any your contract does not say they are allowed to lower your pay they probably can not do this.
Generally, in order for there to be a valid legal contract between two people there must be the flow of considerations between the two parties (flow of something of value eg. labour in exchange for pay). However, past consideration is generally not good consideration for a new contract. They will be getting a consideration (you working for less, but performing the same duties as before). You get no benefit, so the new contract would be invalid. I would assuming that they would be unable to do this |
