I can't exactly be detailed as I want because i don't know what state you the company is in, but it all depends on the companies policies. If the company has rules being specific about marriage to other employers being a violation then they usually make one or both of the parties quit. In my state(South Carolina), a firefighter married his coworker, who was working a secretary and had to give his job up and move to another fire department. But their are cases I know of in this state where couples are working together. A medical technician and her husband, a doctor works together in the hospital. He is her boss. It just depends on the company. If it is a private owned company, then rules don't apply as much, especially if the couple owns and run it, b/c my grannies eye doctor and his wife and her brother run the practice. |

As far as I know there's nothing wrong with that in the professional world. It's not exactly middle school.. |

there are no laws outside of the company that prevent you from having your spouse as your supervisor. most COMPANIES do not allow that and they usually don;t even want spouses working in the same department at the same level - complaints of favoritism and discrimination will be heard loud and clear very soon after something like that happens - one spouse will have to probably change jobs or quit the company |

that wouldn't be a state law---check the handbook. Should be a company policy. Must all big companies would have policy stating that couldnt happen. |

you should be able to do that |

There is no such law. Many companies have policies that frown on employees dating and would not allow married couples to work in the same department.
But if you work for a small, family owned business, you will very likely find husband and wife working together. Although who is actually the boss might be an interesting question. |

There's no legal issue, no law against it, but most companies would forbid it by policy. |

the company may have a policy on nepotism or husband/wife relationship dealing with supervisor/subordant ... need to check it out with HR........ |

That would rely on the company policies. Many do not allow someone with a personal relationship to be subordinate to the other. Some don't even let them work in the same department, and some don't let them work at the same company at all. There is no law about, but legal ramifications can be other employees raising charges of preferential treatment no matter where the spouse is posted. |

It may not be illegal but it may be against the rules for your company. Companies generally have the right to determine those rules and you wouldn't have an actionable cause (you couldn't sue) if you married your boss and continued to work under their supervision and were subsequently let go (assuming your company has that rule). It would be a conflict of interest for your boss/spouse and could lead to lawsuits by other employees is you are perceived as receiving preferential treatment. |
