Is it ok to NOT put your last employer as a reference on your resume?
Find answers to your legal question.

Is it ok to NOT put your last employer as a reference on your resume?

I just graduated high school and really want to get a long term job to save up money. I had a job 2 years ago and quited the job due to my final studies. Now while updating my resume I heard that you need your last employer as a reference because when potential employers don't see it on your reference it leaves a bad impression. The problem is my employer/manager doesn't work there no more! So what should i do to overcome this dilemma? Get 2 teachers to be my referee?

You do not need to list references on a resume. Try to track down some professional references - it definitely helps. Teachers can be references as well if that is your only option. Explaining that your managers from two years ago are no longer with the company is perfectly understandable.

Relax, it's not a big deal! Good luck in your job search!

I've found that most times they don't even call your previous employers.

Most companies will only confirm that you worked for them. ( fear of being sued ) It is difficult to even get confirmation. It's all a big bluff at entry level so put on there what makes you look most suitable for the job. BLUFF

It's OK but why wouldn't you? If the manager left, so what?
