I've agreed to volunteer at a nursing home from March-May and was wondering if it was ok to put this on my resume for a job im applying for if I just make sure they know that it's projected time.

We are in March, so I guess it is later in March. I would not put it in, if I was an employer I would think that is kinda of odd. It is close to when you start, so it is not a huge stretch but it is strange to put in future possibilities, resumes are supposed to be about actual life experiences that have happened, I would be annoyed if I was a hiring manager or worse thinking you were dishonest. Unless it was some prestigious internship or future event that you had to qualify for, which I doubt, like being admitted to Harvard.
However, if you did get an interview you can bring it up, if it is relevant to what you are interviewing for. |

The answer is no! Your resume is supposed to cover work you've already done. If you put work you plan on doing you are lying on your resume. Things change. You may not end up volunteering there, after all. Only put what you've done already. |

I think it is appropriate to put this commitment on a resume as long as you clearly indicate that it is a commitment but not an "achievement." A prospective employer deserves to know of promises made which would limit the times you will be available for him. |

You cannot pad your resume with something you haven't done yet.
If you are going to have a time commitment that prevents you from fulfilling your schedule, you tell them. |
