Is it possible to receive unemployment insurance when you quit to go back to school in MA?

I heard there was a way to do this. But, not sure as you are leaving employment of your own will.

every unemployment case is judged on it's own merits but those merits don't get it. good luck in school.

I've never heard of such a thing. Unemployment is supposed to be for people who are laid off involuntarily through no fault of their own, and it's also supposed to be only for people who are actively looking for work and are ready to accept employment when it's offered to them. So it sounds like quitting a job to go to school would be a double reason for not qualifying.

no, i believe you have to have be let go from the job and the employer can and they do fight your unemployment. Most benefits are payed if there are lay offs or less work, if your hours are cut back but you can't just quit and expect them to pay you.

You would have to be fired, and if there is willful misconduct or gross negligence on your part (which is their responsibility to prove) you would still be denied. So...If you stopped showing up all the sudden, that would fall under willful misconduct.
