Is it right that since im only 16 i dont make minimum wage..?

i work at subway and the owners say since im nt 18 i can only make 7.25 but really i make 7.50 so they say i make over minimum wage it this fair. or even right??

i live n illinois. im saying if mimimum wage is 7.75 why am i only getin 7.50 just beacuse im 16. ive been wrkn there for 10 months!!!

well where i live in michigan EVERYONE 16 and over gets min wage at least. where do you live? that could make the difference.

Federal law allows a much lower "minimum wage" for people under age 20 for their first 90 days of employment - after that they must get the regular minimum. See http://www.dol.gov/esa/minwage/q-a.htm#young

Your state might have stricter rules. You don't say what state you are in.

I don't understand your question when you say that they say you can only make 7.25 but you really make 7.50.

Illinois minimum wage makes exceptions for minors working. That exception allows employers to pay workers under the age of 18, 50 cents less than the regular minimum wage.

what? do you make 7.25 or 7.50 and what is minimum wage in your state?

despite age, they must pay you over minimum wage which is why it's called MINIMUM wage, it's the minimum you can be paid.

Got some bad news. 7.75 is for employees 18 or older. The least amount they have to pay you is .50 less so that would be 7.25.

in New Zealand the minimium wage is $12.00 per hour. as long as you are at least 16.
