I am 32 and soon to be 33. Is it too late for me to pursue a career to become a lawyer? I know that you have to have a bachelors degree before you go to law school. I am thinking about going back to college to get a bachelors degree. What should my major be if I want to go to law school after finishing my bachelors degree?

im an undergrad headed towards law school. its never too late and i think many people would be proud of you and respect you more. your life experiences will give you the upper hand and there is no specific major for law school but a lot of people suggest poli sci. im poli sci/history currently but my suggestion would be something that youre interested in. it honestly doesnt matter..it can even been something science or math related if thats your thing and you want to do patent rights/intellectual prop..just make sure you do well in it and study hard for your lsats. :)

Lawyers have to write a lot. A good degree would be in English, History or political science. Plus, you know you have to apply to go to law school after you graduate. You'll have to have written references from different people you have known over the years. But yes, go ahead and finish your bachelor's degree and go to law school. |

Definitely not too late!! Where I went to law school, at least 30% of the students were over 30. One guy in my class was 58!
Also, my law school had a night program in which 95% of the students were over 30. Actually, at least half of the night school was over 40!
You have to consider that the cost of the time it takes to get your law degree FAR OUTWEIGHS either staying unhappy in a current situation or always wondering what could have been! |

I'm in law school right now. In my class are much older people than me. I am 24, and I sit by someone who is 52. My two majors in college were Communications and Political Science. I would suggest getting a degree in Political Science, just so you have some background. Good luck..law school is challenging, yet so rewarding. |
