"You must understand that failure to show continued and sustained improvement at the end of the 30 days or any time after the probationary period in these areas will result in further disciplinary action ,up to and including termination. I was given notice 7 days earlier .

You can be terminated if your boss is having a bad day, so yes it is legal.

As long as it is not based on discrimination, you can be fired for any reason.

Of course it's legal -- why wouldn't it be?

That statement does not guarantee you 30 days of employment. It means if you commit another offense inside of 30 days they will let you go. Your states laws play into it. I live in an "at will" state. That means you can be terminated at any time for any reason. If that were the case the paper would be meaningless. The form is company rules. State laws are a whole different thing.
