Is there a legal risk to having 2 employers at the same time?
Find answers to your legal question.

Is there a legal risk to having 2 employers at the same time?

Suppose I have a job and accept another believing I can juggle both without telling the employers. Other than being fired if I were found out, is there a greater danger to doing this? i. e. lawsuit? The demand that I return past compensation?

As long as you don't have a contract that forbids you to have a second job, there shouldn't be any legal consequence.

Why would they fire you? Are you trying to steal trade secrets from one to give to the other? Are you trying to steal clients from one to give to the other? Did you sign a "non-compete" contract with either of them.

I used to have three part time jobs at once because I couldn't get a full time job. They were all rotating shifts and did not overlap onto the other and one was at night. I would work one job, get off, go to the other job, get off, then go to the third job. The way the shifts rotated I would work from three days and nights without a break. Then I would drag myself home and pass out on the bed. They were only temporary until I could find a full time job.

They can't make you return any compensation. If you worked, they have to pay you for your time.

I believe the only way you could get in trouble is if the 2 jobs were in the same field and you shared information with one of the jobs to the other

I can't see why they would fire you unless you signed some legally binding contract. Otherwise the only reason to fire you would be if you weren't performing your job duties to their specifications.
