Is there any law in u.k that could protect your work schedule ?

I work 36 hours a week and only give schedule to fit work since i have to look for my kids and our ward manager want me to work in the weekend but i cannot meet my weekend work due my wife is also working weekends and since our manager put me weekend i cannot work in it and it affect my working hours schedule..what should i do?my children ages 4,2 and 1

You need to read your contract of employment.
If your hours are fixed and stated then he cannot change them without informing you first. If however your contract says that your hours may be subject to change for needs of the business then there is nothing you can do if you have been given notice.

If this weekend work is extra hours above what you usually work then im sure they cant force you to work it. If its part of your working week you need to speak to whoever is in charge, let them know and ask them to change it back as before.

There is no law, but if your manager wants to retain you, and not use bank / agency staff then they should be reasonable. There has to be some compromise in a rota situation especially over holiday periods - but if your wife's hours are fixed, you should be able to tell your boss the range of hours that you can make.

If they don't fit the team in the current ward, then ask for a transfer to another ward.
