Is there any way to retrieve my paycheck?
Find answers to your legal question.

Is there any way to retrieve my paycheck?

Ok, I signed up for direct deposit. When I did that, my employer asked for my routing number and account number. I gave the correct routing number, but I gave the wrong sccount number. I gave the number on my card instead of the number on the bottom of my checks. ( It's my first job. i didn't know what the h3ll I was doing.)

My question is, is there any way to retrieve my paycheck that didn't go into my account because of the incorrect account number???

Look at the paystub that your employer gives you - even if you have direct deposit they should give you something every pay period so you can keep track of your earnings and verify they are paying you correctly. It will also tell you if the payment went through or not. If this is your first job and the first time you are doing direct deposit with the company you will probably get an actual paycheck for at least the first pay period if not more. It normally takes a few cycles for the information to be processed and cleared between the bank of your employer and your own bank.

Considering that your debit card is a 16 digit number and most bank accounts are only like 10 numbers long my guess it that your money was never deposited itno an account. Also your employer should have asked for a voided check so that they can verify the information you gave is correct anyway.

I am wondering who you work for - their should be someone at your employer that is in charge of checking and filling all this paperwork out to alleviate these kind of issues.

Good Luck!

Yes, contact your bank and explain the situation. The bank will find out where your paycheck was deposited/sent back and get it into your account.

However, make sure to complete a new direct deposit form with your employer as well to ensure your next paycheck will end up in your account in a timely manner.

Best wishes.

Most employers want you to provide a voided check so that this problem does not happen. You need to contact your HR payroll department and then contact your bank as soon as possible. Yes You can get your money back.
