I went into a certain gas station the other night and wanted to buy some beer. the cashier asked for my ID and i gave her my valid military ID. she then told me "we do not accept military IDs as valid forms of ID you need another form of ID." I asked her why and she said thats company policy. I feel discriminated against and I want to know if I can sue this company

I wanna sue the company for discrimination no the clerk. i know its not illegal but it is discrimination.

Discrimination is perfectly legal as long as it isn't a protected class such as race, gender, religion, etc. Military isn't a protected class.
The store and/or clerk have the right to refuse to sell alcohol to anyone even if they do have several IDs. They are often held responsible if the alcohol ends up in the hands of a minor or there's an accident.

No, discrimination is being treated differently because of one of a specific list of items, like gender, race, age over 40, religion, national origin - being in the military, or only having a military ID, is NOT on that list. So no you don't have any basis for a lawsuit. |

One of the biggest bars/dance clubs here in North Carolina didn't accept military IDs - to get in, you had to have a drivers license. I don't recall any of the management ever giving a good reason for that, but I do know it wasn't illegal. |
