My co worker who is male farted in front of my fellow coworker who is female ( That was how he was answering a question she asked him) . She got very upset and walked out of the office. She later complained to HR and her manger. All that happened is internet access was take away from all of us. I think more should of been done especially now her and I feel uncomfortable working with him. What additional action should she take?

It is not illegal discrimination by federal standards as long as he would have farted at a man who asked the same thing.
She can still file a complaint with HR (specifically the Employee Relations Manager if you have one). If it was an isolated incident though, nothing is probably going to happen. If he is this abnoxious normally, he is probablly going to fired for creating a hostile work environment eventually.

i don't think that's harrassment but it certainly is rude. And all of you had your internet access taken away? i don't understand how that punishment fits the crime...
That employee should have been reprimanded for his inappropriate behavior, been given a warning, and made a formal apology. ... in the meantime you can secretly hope that the next time he forces out a fart he sh*ts his pants... |

sounds like he is an inconsiderate, self-absorbed, rude, crude, ill-mannered, immature individual.....................
none of which is illegal and the actions were not discrimination.
the punishment probably fits the crime because i sense that there probably was more playing around then work getting done and this incident was just the icing on the cake. perhaps to control this group of employees HR has taken the route of an elementary school teacher and taken recess away from the class for poor behavior.....
peer pressure usually deters this kind of childish behavior. |

I don't believe it constitutes harrassment, but share your concerns with HR. Maybe he'll be required to undergo sensitivity training. |

that's not harassment, its assault. I would file a criminal and a civil suit against the offender.
