Is this legal? ?

I had strep last month. I called into work and asked if I could get off a few hours early and go to the doctor. My boss told me to not come in at all, she just kept insisting that I not come in. So I went to the doctor and got a note saying to be out of work for the next day too. Well I got wrote up for that. If I have a doctor's note is she allowed to write me up?

Yes you can be written up. The doctor's note only proves you were sick and not faking it (though so many people can get doctor's notes without being sick half the time I don't believe it anyway). The thing with getting written up for absenteeism is that you were absent. Period. There is no such thing as an "excused" absence in the working world; this isn't school. Even bereavement leave is considered "absent" in most companies and when coupled with other absences during the year, too many is cause for disciplinary action (write ups or termination.) And BTW, of course your boss told you not to come in...you had strep throat and she didn't want everyone else getting sick too. It still doesn't "excuse" the absence. Sorry.

Sure. You weren't at work, so the time off will be noted. It's a legitimate reason, but even then , if you are off to often, you'll be replaced. They need people who will be there when they are scheduled.

If you are in the US, labor law differs from state to state. If you have a note from a Dr. that says you need to be away from work for an illness, you need to look at the regulations in your state. You can start researching at www.usa.gov and search "employment law" and the state you are in.

You should also look at your employee handbook or other documentation that you received as it might address absences.

Your boss wants to fire you. Start looking for a new job.

Edit: Put thumbs down if you want, but it's pretty obvious they are trying to get rid of her and are creating a paper trail so she can be fired. You can moan and groan about how unfair it is, or start looking for the job you're going to need soon.

Being sick may constitute a disability and there may be remedies under the ADA.
