I found something similar to this online and was wondering if it was legal or illegal.
Please tell me if either, or both, scenario's are legal/illegal.
Scenario 1
There is a list of 6 people. You send $1 to each of these people. Then you go advertsie the Google Document (or whatever) that explains it all. There are no websites. There is nothing to pay for except stamps, and the $6. The more places you post the better chance you have of getting more money to yourself. BEFORE you post the information, you remove the #1 person on the list and put YOUR name at #6 (moving everyone else up 1 number)...then you post and wait for the letters to come in.
In each letter you include a $1 bill and a letter that says something along the lines of "Please add me to your mailing list"
With Scenario 1 you have to trust people that they will pay you before they begin posting the info themselves.
Scenario 2:
Similar to scenario 1. However, with Scenario 1 you do not know if the people actually paid the $6 before they go posting on their own.
So, Scenario 2 is done with more control. The $6 is sent to each person, I get confirmation they got it, and then I give more information/help to the new person that just sent the $6.
This would help ensure people receive their money and would help ensure the program works.
In total:
No websites, no montly fees, no paying a monthly membership, no membership fees of any kind (with Scenario 2 there sort of is), and it's cheap to get started.
You post on news groups (forums, ad sites, etc.) and post as many as you can. The more you post the better results you can get, unless you're posting in a dead location.
Anyway, I would really appreciate all your help.
I would like to look into this and possibly DO IT.
But, not if it's illegal!
Please also provide proof.

The fact that you posted this question means that YOU thought something was not right about this. Things that are too good to be true always are.

That's where the problem lies.
It doesn't seem to be illegal. But watch what you sign, and what who else signs pertaining to this 'chainmail' money making scheme, I don't think you get trouble for something like this. I also do not see how you will make money out of this because it is in a constant loop. |

I dont see anything illegal. I dont really understand what you are trying to do, but I see no legal issues. These people can simply disregard your letter if they wish to do so. As long as they comply with the terms of the site where they are posting I dont see anything wrong with it except that it seems annoying. |
