I'm salary and they just told me I would have to make up some of the time that I have been missing for apts...?
Can they do this?
I have been having apts every week since week 34 and will be 38w this Wednesday.... I'm so mad I could scream!
I want to work as long as possible to have more time at home with the baby....
I thought it was illegal to make a salary employee or any employee for that matter make up time for a pregnancy due to dr apts.

Legality may depend on how other employees are treated who take time for medical appointments for other conditions. If they are salaried and are not asked to make up the time then asking you to make up the time is discrimination as pregnancy must be treated in the same manner as any other medical condition.
In theory being salaried means that you shouldn't have to make up the hours, but the reality is that you either need to use paid time off or make up the time especially if other employees are asked to do the same. |
