There is no excuse for what that twisted monster did, and to hear them saying he is not a monster, I just want to puke!!!!! Am I alone in this? Noone had a perfect childhood and I am sick of people who try to use this as an excuse. There is a grain of humanity in every human being that does not change nomatter what they go through as a child!

Defence lawyers will use whatever means they have to try and get their clients off the charge or the punishment reduced.
It is part and parcel of the legal system and if he did not do this then he would not be doing his job properly.
If you were in a position where you were being charged with something then you would hope your lawyer would use any excuse going to get you off.

While there may be no excuse for his behavior, in a civilized society even the scum deserve proper representation. Allowing him a lawyer says a lot more about society than it does about him. |

In a civilised society, everyone is entitled to legal representation, no matter how heinous the crime. Lawyers are not entitled to refuse to defend someone because they don't like what they've done - everyone, even Fritzi is entitled to be presumed innocent until proven guilty. If the lawyers concerned refused to represent this evil man, they would be in breach of their professional ethics. |

No not really. It is a Lawyers job to defend their client no matter what.
The Judge's sentence on the other hand certainly is one of the ones' that give Judge's a bad name.
There is a fair chance that fritzl' fellow inmates will in time impose the sentence many people feel he should have got! |
