Just lost my job?
Find answers to your legal question.

Just lost my job?

On Saturday I went to work and was fired. The reason given is because I had a bad attitude and told a shift manager I'm tired of this crap.(it never happened)
The employee hand book says I am supposed to get 2 verbal warnings then 3 write ups before being let go(other than theft, violence or drugs). The problem is I never got any.

I then saw a friend I worked with last night and he says they had shown my separation form stating the reasons for my termination to all the employees and that as far as he knows that is not allowed. (He told me exactly what it said and I never told any one)
Is there some one I should call about this?
Or should I just consider it a life lesson and move on?

You could file a grievence with the company. If you win you will get your job back. But it will be a hostile environment and uncomfortable to work in. As far as the law goes they can fire you for no reason at all unless you are under a contract. I would file for unemployment and move on.

Your friend is wrong. It may be stupidly rude thing to show your termination papers to the staff, but not illegal.

It's not even mandated by law that your employer give you two verbal warnings.

Your best bet is cut your losses and move on to another job. File for unemployment though -- you may be able to collect.

I agree with the guy that stated I would file for employment and move on. For some reason obviously, that's not where you need to be right now, so while your looking for a job, go to the unemployment office and explain your situation to them. No point in getting an attorney and all that, it's just going to cost you money you probably don't have now that you don't have a job. Good Luck!

You could talk to an attourney and see if you have a case. The problem is that you will probably spend more money in legal fees than it is worth...but, an attourney would also be able to possibly tell you who to go to about this.

Ok first off go back and read your contract with the company I am more than sure in fine print or in the jargain you will see something along the lines:

we have the right to terminate the said signees job with atleast 2 weeks notice or less ( or if not or less) with 2 verbal warnings and 3 write ups sometimes a verbal warning can also result into a write up. also termination can happen if blablabla....

and so on.

it might also state they can terminate you without cause or reason or th 2 weeks notice.

its just formality of "manners".

Go to your phone book and look up your states or counties

Legal Counsel which should give you n umbers of attorneys that deal with Workmans rights.

or look up lawyers that deal with workers or workmans rights.

good luck
