Labor laws and getting a job.....?

Labor laws and getting a job.....?

ok i'm 14 and my parents own a Subway.
I am looking at getting a job there over the summer and I would work all weekdays from around 8am-3pm because thats the hours that both my parents will be working there.

We have already looked over some of the labor laws and we are positive that I'm allowed to work there even though I'm 14 because one of my parents would be there to watch over me, and that I'm not allowed to operate the slicer or cut the sandwiches seeing as they both involve sharp objects.

***BIG QUESTION HERE***
However, we don't know what hours I would be able to work. Like I said we haven't looked all into it yet, but if anyone could look on this for me, would I be able to work from 8am-3pm?

We know that I'm allowed to work but we don't know for HOW LONG I will be able to work.

Does anyone know or know where I can look?

Thanks
=)

if your parents own or operate the business then almost all labor laws do not apply to you..............
there are laws relating to hazardous occupations that do apply such as not using a slicer.
http://www.youthrules.dol.gov/jobs.htm

you should contact your states department of labor and ask what you can work but in most states there are very few limits.

this link explains the exemptions under federal law:
http://www.dol.gov/elaws/esa/flsa/cl/exemptions.asp
this link is for a list of state's departments of labor:
http://www.dol.gov/esa/contacts/state_of.htm

OR
edit the question to include what state you will be working in......
