Law degree in law enforcement ?

I am a public safety officer(i work for my school's campus) I am applying to became a correction officer and use that job as a stepping stone to cross-over to law enforcement. I like law enforcement but want to study and became a lawyer after my bachelor and still want to remain in law enforcement, I like to know how can I use my law degree upon grad within the law enforcement field please. I just started college this fall in political science with pre-law emphasis
