Its a good career. I had a long time friend who was a Copper on a large metropolitan Police force for 20 years. Though he did a lot of routine patrol work his specialty was as an evidence technician. He didn't even graduate college. I believe though I could be wrong that the FBI requires some advanced knowledge of either Law or Accounting. I am sure that you can find out easily. They must have a web site. I said I used to have a friend. He and I were pals for 40 years. He died just last May of Cancer. He did tell me one thing that I will pass along to you. He said that We Just Catch The Dumb Ones. Good Luck Bob

College? They won't even look at you if you're from college. Those big law enforcement jobs need physics, math, law and more. You're going to have to make it into university for them to look at you.

Get the job at the local police force when you turn 18. You can do the study while you are working. It will be attractive to the FBI and ATF that you have a police background when you apply..

You need to keep your criminal record clean. You need to keep your credit in good standing, and you need to go to college to get at least a bachelors degree in criminal justice.

The FBI requires a bachelors degree before they will hire you. They will not hire you if you have a criminal record. This does include excessive traffic violations. They also will not hire you if you have bad credit. For some stupid reason, the federal government (and some state agencies) feel that a person with bad credit is more of a risk to taking bribes. This is stupid in my opinion. There are politicians with good credit ratings who take bribes.

Good luck in your career choice. Im sure you will have lots of fun doing it.
